Strengthening Partners Initiative Recognized in GuideStar Article June 27, 2006 The Mayor’s Office of Partnerships and Grants Development (OPGD) and its Strengthening Partners Initiative (SPI) were recently featured in a GuideStar article about e-philanthropy.  The article reports that online giving is increasing, and nonprofits are finding more and more ways to tap this new source of funding. TouchDC, an e-philanthropy Web portal that was created for the Washington region, is highlighted specifically in the article, as are efforts by OPGD to inform the public about the fundraising tool. In addition, the article describes how participants in the first SPI class were taught how to update their organizational profiles, financials, and websites. This training enhanced their presence on TouchDC and better positioned them to attract more donors. The GuideStar article can be viewed online.
